Lowell C. Steinberg grew up in New Jersey, receiving a B.A. in biology and an academic minor in Art from Rutgers University. He earned his doctorate degree and graduated with honors from the prestigious Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1988, receiving clinical excellence awards in both pediatric vision and vision rehabilitation. He was inducted into the Gold Key International Optometric Honor Society, an organization in which members are selected by their classmates and limited to 10% of a graduating class. After graduation, he completed a 1-year residency program in vision therapy at the State University of New York College of Optometry.
In addition to being licensed in the state of Colorado, Dr. Steinberg is also a diplomate of the American Board of Optometry. A minority of optometrists earn the diplomate states as it requires a rigorous examination process. Extensive continuing education hours are necessary to maintain certification. Dr. Steinberg is a member of the Colorado Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
Dr. Steinberg moved to Boulder in 2002 and since then has practiced in the Boulder-Denver metro area, including work at the Colorado Optometric Center, a non-profit organization which services disadvantaged individuals. Dr. Steinberg has owned a private practice in Boulder since 2011. He very much looks forward to providing exceptional eye care to the valued patients and newcomers at Tom's Sportique Eyewear.
